One day I went to Philly and found no one available. Everyone was gone out of town except one friend who was too sick to want company. I called up another friend in Atlantic City area and she had other plans, so I decided it was as good a time as any to go to DELAWARE.

After all, the Dogfish Head brewpub is there, and also this sign I neglected to photograph while biking there a few years ago:

Now why would they need a sign to tell you THAT?

OF COURSE "scenic route ends"! Unless you are here to enjoy the beautiful oil refineries.

Well they do look kind of cool, in a way, I guess...but I doubt if any old people from North Dakota are driving by in their RVs to gawk at them.

As I was actually headed south, into the "scenic route", I spotted this and decided to take a couple shots. A cruise ship sailing past a nuclear power plant!

It was so hazy/hot/humid/hellish that I was wondering if the nuke would even show up in the pictures, but it did. Just barely...

I didn't take any pictures in Rehoboth beach or Dogfish Head brewpub. Too busy drinking **belch**! They have some damn fine beer there at Dogfish Head lemmetellya. My favorite of the evening was kind of a light offering: Festina Peche. Brewed with peaches, it tastes more of sour apple. Low alcohol, very refreshing, like a glass of lemonade. It was just that kind of hot steamy night. I sat at the bar next to a bachelorette party, next to a beautiful, yet unfortunately already married, young lady who wants to conceive her first child in Paris France. Anyway, where was I?

Oh yes. The next morning I woke in my van, hardly able to breathe it was so humid. I had the makings of a vicious hangover and decided to pull over and stop here in SLAUGHTER BEACH! Now doesn't that sound like a great name for a slasher/surf movie? And then they could have: JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WAS SAFE TO GET OUT OF THE WATER: SLAUGHTER BEACH 2!!!

After a nap, which I survived somehow, I noticed the firemens' dining hall! I didn't stick around to find out just what they were dining on.... maybe that's for the best.

next stop: Downingtown PA
